Why did yahoo make me type a special code before I could send the email?

So I was in my yahoo email account and I read an email. I clicked "New" to write another email. When I hit send, I got a screen telling me to type the letters i saw on my screen to prevent bots from sending mail. This is very rare and when I sent another email, it didn’t happen.

Am I hacked or does this happen every once in a while? I really was on Yahoo.
