My friend just got her internet disconnected and reported for illegal movie down loads. She isn’t computer savy enough to do that and the internet provider said that someone might be using her internet. That is scary… I have a wirelss internet router how can I make sure that doesnt happen to me?

If an internet service provider, provides internet, how do they connect, if they use another service provider, then where does that provider get access to the internet? If they use a server then how does the server get access and if there is one universal service provider then how did that one get access, and if you can use a server to get an ISP, then couldn’t anyone just buy a server and get free internet excluding the server cost?

So right now I’m using my laptop, but my other desk computer won’t connect to the internet, and I don’t know what is wrong with it. So when I connect the internet cable to the CPU the send and receive lights just won’t turn on. When those lights are on it means that its connected and it get internet connection. I am sick of this laptop its a mini laptop and I just like my other computer’s bigger screen. How can I get it to connect to the internet? Its just not working. Thanks.

This problem just started recently. Everytime I click to open Internet explorer it takes over a minute for the page to load. Once it does load it works great and isnt slow at all. Also, whenever I click on a link that needs to open a new window, that takes over a minute as well. This is very frustrating. Any suggestions?

One computer has internet access already. I used to have internet on one but when I bought a new computer I switched. Is it possible to connect the internet to the other one as well?

I need to restrict internet access to just a few websites at ~20 locations. The locations are retail stores that need internet access to HR websites and company websites, but I don't want them surfing the internet.
The stores have connections back to one point (a sonicwall firewall/router) which is where they gain their internet access. I would like to keep from having to travel to each store to change settings on each computer. Is there anyway we could limit internet access in this way.

Whenever I search for something on the internet it remembers it, so everytime I go to search something that has the same first letter, it shows up. Is there any way to take that off? It doesnt do it on my other computer.

I need internet and comcast is the only provider where I live in indianapolis. They have three different levels or speeds, economy and then two above that that are more expensive. They claim that the lowest speed or economy as they call it is faster than DSL. Anybody have any comments about the economy speed at Comcast? Is it fast enough?

I have a DSL Modem linked directly to a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router with four port switch. It is supposed to share internet, but it doesn’t. How do I fix this?

I just bought an HP Omnibook 900 with an Airlink 101 Wireless card. The previous owner said that he used the wireless to connect to the internet without any problems. So here is the question. This is my first time using a laptop with wireless, so If I am in a hotspot offering wifi (such as a bookstore), what do I need to do to connect to the internet. Should it be as simple as clicking on the internet explorer and it will automatically detect the signal and pull up , or do I have to select something on the control panel ? Right now the laptop is running Windows ME, I plan to change it to XP in the future so I can run off wireless from my home home internet provider (comcast). Can someone please tell me what I need to do to connect to the internet. Thanks.
