How do companies like yahoo and google and even facebook generate revenue?

I’ve always wondered,almost everything online, internet, blogs even downloading is free, how do these companies make money. The owners of google are of the most powerfull people in the world today(according to Forbs) so can you guys let me know how exactly they make theor bucks?

Many ways. Google and Yahoo have so many services it is unreal. Facebook does too. There are advertising services, upgraded email accounts, video games you pay for credits to play, online dating memberships……………most revenue will always come from advertising.
